Parent Guide

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

It is most important that parents and caregivers understand the importance of structure and consistency. All of our teachers work very hard to create a secure, happy, stable environment for our children. As it is very disruptive for all of the children if some students arrive late, we ask that parents do respect drop off and pick up time.

In addition, please notify the day care in advance if an undesignated person will be picking up your child. Written permission must be received before we will release a child to anyone who is not authorized on the registration form. Photo identification will also be necessary for any unauthorized person to pick up a child. If written consent and/or proper identification are not received the child will not be released.

CONFERENCES

Please refrain from distracting your child’s teacher with an impromptu doorway conference. We respect our children greatly and do not want to discuss any concerns in front of them. All of our teachers, are more than happy to set up private appointments with parents, and they are also available for phone conferences. We appreciate any and all feedback and any concern that a parent might have, is taken seriously and we will work together to form an appropriate solution. It is important that we keep the lines of communication open.

MEALS

You are welcome to send along lunch with your child, which we will keep cold / hot in accordance with your instructions. We also provide a daily healthy afternoon snack. We also occasionally have a party or event where catered food is served. If your child can not eat the planned meals due to a special diet, allergies or other such circumstances, please speak with our Director directly so we can work together to make appropriate accommodations. Parents of infants, (under the age of 12 months) are asked to supply all food items/formula for their babies. Additionally we ask that parents of infants provide us with a detailed schedule of how their baby is cared for at home, so that we can replicate their individual schedules as much as possible. It is especially difficult to leave a young baby to the care of others and we do our best to make it as easy as possible for all concerned.

ILLNESS

As a protective measure to your child, Children with a temperature of 101 degrees or above are not permitted in the school, and they cannot return to school until they have are 24 hours fever free. We want the school to be a healthy environment for all. Also, please contact the school if your child will be absent due to any contagious disease (chicken pox, pink eye, etc.) so we can discreetly inform the other parents and staff of any additional health precautions that must be undertaken (of course without mention of child’s name) . For easily transmitted illnesses, children need to be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school. Check with the Director for details.
